Eid Mubarak!
Shawwal (Eid Al-Fitr) 1441/ 2020

The Crescent Council of Canada declares the 1st of Shawwāl (‘Eīd Al-Fiṭr) for Saturday May 23, 2020.

The Crescent Council of Canada has received confirmation of multiple sightings in Somalia, Ethiopia and Kenya on Ramaḍān 29, 1441 (May 22, 2020). Sighting in the region was also scientifically possible through optical aid. Our local scholars, Shaykh Saeed Rageah and Imam Hasan Usman have verified the sighting reports with authorities and scholars in the region, including the grand Mufti of Somalia, Mufti Muhammad Omar Direr. Based on this verified information, the Crescent Council of Canada declares ‘Eīd Al-Fiṭr (Shawwāl 1st,1441) for tomorrow, Saturday May 23, 2020.

May the Almighty accept our fasting, worship and charity.
‘Eīd Al-Fiṭr Mubārak!

COVID-19 has impacted the lives of many in Canada and around the world, in mind, body, and spirit. Organizations such as the Islamic Foundation of Toronto (IFT) face the unprecedented task of serving the needs of the community while facing financial pressures as we look to continue to deliver our many programs and services. We need your support.

COVID-Drive Thru Service

Islamic Foundation of Toronto has now opened a drive-through office in the Masjid parking lot. This was done due to significant demand from our community, and will be open during Ramadan for any in-person donations, community inquiries, and services. Please note our hours: Daily from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM

Resuming Programs & Services

The Islamic Foundation will patiently wait until we can open our doors again and restart our programs. We look forward to connecting with our community members through the following programs

  • Serving 525 meals each week to local shelters and individuals in need, a program in place for the past 17 years.
  • Filing 1,100 tax returns for seniors, low-income individuals, and families, which we have done for 13 years.
  • Providing free tutoring services every Friday for elementary and high-school students since 2007.
  • Teaching over 1500 students in our academic and religious school programs every year.

These services are a snapshot of what our volunteers and staff accomplish every day. We thank you for your continued support through these uncertain times and we welcome you all back with open arms when we can open our doors.
