Ramadan Tabs – IFT

Ramadan Fundraising

In order to keep our facilities running smoothly, this year's Ramadan fundraising goal is $500,000. This money will be used for the upkeep and maintenance of the Mosque. A few of the major capital projects we have planned for this year include:

  • Repaving of ground floor parking lot with curbs including a safe pedestrian corridor.
  • Revitalization of the gymnasium
  • Revitalization of the cafeteria
  • Revitalization of the washrooms

We humbly appeal to all of you to continue to contribute generously; any and all amounts are appreciated, and no donation is too small.

Support IFT with a $1 a day pledge. We are looking for 1400 people to donate $1 a day.

  • Hifz and evening Quran classes
  • Sunday school
  • Weekly Seniors program
  • Personal and family tax services

What is Zakat and why is it important?

Zakat (Zakatul Mal) is literally translated into "that which purifies" and generally refers to a religious 'levy' or 'tax' which is an obligation composed of a certain percentage of every kind of personal income to provide relief to the poor and less fortunate. Zakat is a religious duty of every Muslim whose wealth exceeds a defined limit. As conferred by Allah (SWT) all individuals whose wealth exceeds this limit are required to spend 2.5% of their total income annually to the needy and less fortunate. Zakat is of paramount importance as by Quranic Ranking it is the third pillar of Islam meaning it is the next after prayer in importance.

Sadaqatul Fitr

The second type of Zakat is called Sadaqatul Fitr (commonly known as Fitra) and is paid during the month of Ramadan until the day of Eid-ul-Fitr. Fitra is compulsory on every individual that can support him or herself and their family beyond the night of Eid. Fitra is due for every family member including children and infants.

This year, the recommended amount for Sadaqatul Fitr is $10 per person.
