Funeral
Services

Losing a loved one is truly a heartbreaking and difficult time. From the washing of the body to the burial, the Islamic Foundation provides a spiritual and communal framework for honouring the deceased. Throughout the entire process, the masjid offers not only a sacred space for these rituals but also fosters a sense of community, as we believe that by participating in the funeral service, we are reminded of the reality of death and the importance of preparing for the Hereafter.

If the need arises, please call us at 416-876-3000, where you will be directed to the Funerals Coordinator. They will then take care of all the related services. The entire process takes time and your presence in the office may be necessary. We, therefore, suggest that the Funerals Coordinator be contacted in advance in instances where death is expected.

Mortuary
& Ghusl

Our mortuary is equipped with a cold body storage facility and all the amenities to provide ghusl al-mayyah (washing the body) and getting the body ready for burial in a wooden casket as per the law in the province of Ontario. Our team of volunteers comprises of both brothers and sisters to wash the body according to the gender of the deceased.

Salat ul-janaza
(Prayer for the deceased)

A prayer is held over every deceased Muslim, young or old, even of infants who have lived only a few minutes. Salat ul-janazah is a collective obligation. The community should participate in it, whether or not the deceased or their relatives are known to the community.

Salat ul-janazah is prayed silently, except the takbeer and tasleem. All conditions for regular salah are required in salat ul-janazah such as tahara, wudu, clean body and clothes, niyyah (intention), and facing the qiblah. The prayer can be easily performed in the spacious prayer halls of our mosque for both men and women. You are welcome to bring non-Muslim friends as well for funeral services, but we do require that the appropriate dress code is observed.

Marriage
Services

Marriage plays an important role in the Muslim community by fostering family values and maintaining strong ties. The Islamic Foundation offers couples a space to formalize their union in accordance with religious traditions. The masjid provides a sacred environment where the nikah is conducted by an Imam who is also a licensed marriage officer in Ontario.

In addition, we also offer counseling services for couples preparing for marriage, guiding them through the expectations of married life from an Islamic perspective, emphasizing the importance of both spiritual and emotional foundations for a lasting relationship.

We humbly request that the bride and groom do not take photos together in the main prayer hall. For further questions, please call our office 416-321-0909 or email [email protected]

Rental
Facilities

The Islamic Foundation offers rental facilities for a variety of community needs, providing spaces that can be used for events, educational programs, and social gatherings. These facilities are available for the public, allowing for a sense of connection and support within the community, while also ensuring that the masjid is used for purposes that enhance both spiritual and social well-being.

We provide both the gymnasium and cafeteria to rent. Rental income from these facilities also help support the masjid’s operational costs, ensuring that it remains a sustainable and accessible space for all members of the community.
